Hannah Khiangte: A Story Woven in Threads

Hannah Khiangte was born from a desire to explore, to create, and to bring the past into the present in a way that feels fresh, raw, and honest. “Growing up in Aizawl, Mizoram, I was surrounded by stories, some told, some woven into the very fabric of our lives.

Textiles were never just textiles; they carried meaning, history, and identity.  Hannah Khiangte my eponymous label is my way of sharing that world with you.” - Hannah Khiangte, Founder and Designer.

At its heart, Hannah Khiangte is about craft and community. It is about giving our indigenous Zo textiles the space to evolve, to be seen and worn in ways that feel modern yet deeply rooted. We work closely with local artisans and weavers, ensuring that our craft not only survives but thrives. Our fabrics are created using traditional shuttle looms, keeping alive techniques that have been passed down for generations. Our newest collection, “Are you gonna go my way,” is a celebration of punk meets culture, where heritage meets rebellion. Our attempt is to bring the rich legacy of Mizo weaves into conversation with contemporary fashion, reimagining the traditional puan into powerful, unexpected silhouettes. Inspired by the contrasts within us, the push and pull between tradition and individuality, restraint and freedom, this collection reflects that spirit of duality. Beyond the fabrics and forms, the collection is about storytelling. Each piece carries the soul of Zo craftsmanship while embodying the strength and independence of the modern woman. It is a movement, a statement, and a bold step forward for Mizo fashion. Our hope is that when you wear our pieces, you don’t just see the beauty of the textile, but you feel the history, the craft, and the footprint of the Zo community behind it. This is our story. And now, it has become a part of yours.Founded in 2013 by Hannah Khiangte, her eponymous company was founded to take Mizo weaves to the world. By creating a holistic circle of women makers, weavers across pockets in Mizoram, the brand is rooted in empowering the local way of life, talent and imagination and expanding slowly as new avenues open.
